It was nearly the middle of the night when me and my student Derek decided to part ways with the usual crowds of people. We decided to take the several hour trek up past sunrise point atop Burroughs Mountain in pitch black.
This near 2.5 hour hike was one of the most difficult scrambles I have been on to date. Not only in the dark but up icy snowy slopes as well. With the wind gusting and nearly pushing us over most of the way up, we finally reached the top and were greeted with one of the most spectacular views.
